Cub Scouts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boy Scouts of America for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I get asked to write about Cub Scouts I thought, "How coincidental.  Kanin has his first Cub Scout meeting tomorrow night."

Part of Boy Scouts of America, our Cub Scout meeting was held in our elementary school gymnasium.  During this meeting the pack leader presented awards to different Boy Scouts who had earned badges over the summer, talked about camp, led the group in a song, and talked about the only fundraiser that our pack will be participating for the year.

As I sat there listening to the leader try to speak, it struck me that these volunteer leaders have to have a lot of patience.  Of course, boys will be boys and have so much energy to get out but the leaders were very patient with each of them and were able to bring them back under control.

When the meeting was over I asked Kanin how he liked it and he said, "I LOVED IT!"  That was funny to me as this wasn't even the "fun" meeting where he got to do activities but basically more of a business-type meeting.  I think he just liked the fact that all of his friends were there and it was just a room full of little boys.  LOL

One thing that Kanin particular enjoyed was the presentation of The Colors (American flag and Missouri flag), as well as, saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  He thought that was really cool since he has been working on memorizing it.

One thing that impressed me is that the pack leader expressed that a lot of the events are family events so parents and other siblings can participate in the campouts and service projects.  I think that this Boy Scouts of America will give us the opportunity to do more things as a family, as well as, for Kanin to interact with other boys and meet friends that aren't in his classes at school.

Our first den meeting is on Tuesday and I am looking forward to seeing what cool activity.  If you have a young boy, think about allowing him to Be A Scout to be a scout, too.
